Poker is a card game that can be played by two or more players. Usually, each player places an ante and\/or a blind bet before the cards are dealt. The dealer shuffles the cards, and the player on their right cuts (unless they are the dealer). After the shuffling, the dealer deals each player a number of cards. Throughout the hand, players may place additional bets on their chances of making a winning hand. The player with the highest ranked hand when all bets are placed wins the pot. The game became popular in the early 21st century when it was brought into the mainstream through television shows & online gambling. It is a highly strategic game of chance and skill where bluffing is common. Players must learn to read their opponents\u2019 tells, which are unconscious habits that reveal information about the player\u2019s hand. These can include eye contact, facial expressions & body language. In addition, they must be able to calculate the odds of their hand winning by analyzing the table after the flop.
